I specialize in the following areas:

Marriage and Relationship Counselling
I focus on building relationship skills and help people develop new strategies to make relationships safer, healthier and rekindle that desire to be in your current one.

Addiction Issues
I use a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model of understanding and treating addictions. This includes but is not limited to addictions to pornography, food, alcohol, drugs, gambling. I am a certified substance abuse expert and gambling addiction counsellor. I am familiar with and work with people in 12 step recovery.

Recovery from Traumatic Experiences
I provide a supportive environment for healing from traumatic experiences. Such experiences include accidents, abuse, violent episodes, and loss. I have worked extensively with people who have been trying to deal with their past traumas and are struggling. Historical experiences can really carry forward in our lives and create a lens that colours our experiences in a way we have a feeling for, but are struggling to manage. I like to call it a “blind spot” – something we can deal with when there is the support of another helpful viewpoint – mine, the counsellor’s.

I work with both youth and families who are stuck in problematic relationships at home. I have solid and productive relationships with the youth that I work with and many of the issues families are contending with get dealt with in our work together.

I use the following therapeutic modes of psychotherapy/counselling:

  • Cognitive Therapy
  • Solution-Focused Counselling
  • Narrative Therapy
  • EMDR
  • Compassionate Communication or Collaborative Communication
